Plan for the Week

Mae and I have struggled with the deadlines but we have created a plan for what we need to do this week in the hope that we will be finihsed in time for Friday. Tonight, we are staying after school with James and Charlie to get the band shots done. We are using a music room at school because it is plain and we can use the instruments they have there. If all goes to plan we will finish those shots tonight and I will edit them tomorrow. On Thursday we have planned to shoot the field shots near Mae's house. I then have break, lunch and two frees on Friday in which to edit these parts.

DigiPak and Advert Draft Feedback

One of the things I was told in my feedback was that the font I used for the band name was too plain and didn't represent the genre. I am now looking at some different fonts.

SF Phosphorus Oxide
SF Phosphorus

Gothic 1 Regular
GothicHandDirty

a Theme for murder
A Theme For Murder

ABCD1 Regular
ScriptSERIF

I think I want this font to be white so that it stands out against the dark background. I was originally thinking of using a plain font because the album title and some of the other writing uses quite a bold font and I didn't want the two fonts to clash.

Another bit of feedback I got was that the release date text was too big. The reason I made it as large as I did is because I was taking inspiration from some other adverts I had seen, for example:

Also, I thought that my advert would look too plain and there would be too much space if my fonts were too small. I think that if I make the album title larger I could make the release date smaller without a problem.

On my DigiPak I got similiar feedback in terms of some of the texts I used so i will definitely look into that. I was told that the CD panel was too plain so I need to think of something I could put there. Also I was told I need to make

Advert Mock Up

When creating this mock up I changed my initial idea and used just the image of the skull rather than the full skeleton. I am still undecided as to which will look best so I intend to create a second mock up using the other image.

DigiPak Mock Up

On the real version I will use a different font for the track names and the the images will be hand drawn or photos. I like my idea but I think it will be difficult to reproduce for real so I will probably make a few drafts on photoshop first, even if its just one panel. I will also be using the 'Wind Up' record label so I will have their logo on the front cover.

CD Cover Analysis Prezi

Magazine Advert Ideas

Like many album adverts I want there to be parallels between the aesthetic of it and the album cover. However, I do not want to simply recreate the album cover, instead I want to create a theme. The album is called 'Circles' and my theme from this will be life, or more simply the motto 'from the cradle to the grave'. I want the concept to be that life is a circle and the depression of being stuck in a rut. This is why I have chosen to use the image of a skeleton for both my album cover and advert.
I want to use the same colours as on my album cover to show a link between the two so my advert will be mainly black with grey and white highlights for text. Instead of the skeleton being in the middle of the page like on my CD cover I want it to be on the edge of the page so only half of it is showing. On the other side of the page I will have the lead singer of 'The Dejected'. Both will have an arm outstreched towards on and other, symbolising the link between life and death.

DigiPak Influences

I like the idea of using a skull because it fits with the theme of the album. Also, the image of a skull stands out and is quite bold so will catch the attention of people. I like the look of dark imagery and it fits with the feel of the song that our video is for. I quite like the idea of using a simple colour scheme of only two or three colours as I think this will be more effective and will tie in well to the theme.

Digipak Ideas

Showcase of Beautiful Album and CD covers - Muse - Origin of Symmetry  I want my front cover to show the image of a skeleton on a black background. I want to use a blurred effect like on the 'Editors', and the 'Electrocuted'  albumEditors: The End Has a Start by Idris Khan. I want the name of the album 'Circles' to be in big bold letters layered over the top of the image. I want the band name in white or light grey at the bottom of the cover. I want the main colour of my Digipak to be black with some grey and white. I want the tracklist on the back cover, using white text and some decorative designs down the sides. I like the black and white contrast on the 'Welcome to the Black Parade' and 'Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea', I want to use this as my colour scheme.
